The Fair Housing Act protects citizens against the denial of housing and any psychic injury that takes place as a result of discrimination. On May 1, 2010, Jermaine Bilbo, who is African American, and his wife, Taiko Bilbo, who is Caucasian, signed a lease to rent a single-family residence from Clifton Hylton, who is African American.
