At this year's holiday luncheon at our firm, we engaged in the ancient custom called a "Yankee Gift Swap." I am not sure about the Yankee origins of the tradition, but suffice to say that it required participants to buy one gift, costing no more than $10, wrap it extravagantly, and then draw a number out of a hat.
