Editorial: CBA Is Failing In Diversity Efforts

If the profession is to be successful in diversifying the bar, then the volunteer bar associations must take the lead. It is unreasonable for bar associations to sit back and publicly lament the lack of diversity among law firm partnerships or in the judiciary, all the while failing to elect a lawyer of color to lead their organizations.

What's being said

  • Connecticut is not a diversified state. Nor does it possess the will to diversify. On that basis, it is understandable for the many to possess the view of the previous person.

  • What is diversity? Nobody really cares about color any more.
    We care about ethics. We care about honor and loyality. I believe we care about intelligence.

    As a biologist, I know a lot about diversity. An ecosystem or any other system, promotes and encourages entities that are fit.

    In a legal system, it seems that there are a lot of people "of color" who need legal support. If they start choosing attorneys "of color" then there will be lots of opportunity‘s for lawyers of color.

  • Can we have one edition of the CBA that does not include some rant about diversity and race? It would be so refreshing...
