New Britain/Hartford J.D. v. Johndrow
The Statewide Grievance Committee can order a lawyer's presentment to Superior Court for discipline. A local grievance panel found probable cause that the respondent attorney violated Rule 1.16, which governs a lawyer's withdrawal from representing a client. The Statewide Grievance Committee also considered whether the respondent violated Rule 5.5, which concerns the unauthorized practice of law, and Rules 8.4(4) and 8.1(2) of the Rules of Professional Conduct. The respondent attorney, Ellen Burns Johndrow, was admitted to the bar of the State of Connecticut in October 1982. The respondent already is the subject of another disciplinary matter that has not yet been resolved. The respondent attorney and disciplinary counsel agreed to consolidate the various disciplinary matters. The Statewide Grievance Committee ordered the respondent attorney's presentment to Superior Court for discipline.
