Candidates for state supreme courts across the country spent a record-breaking $29.7 million on television advertising this year, according to a study released by the Brennan Center for Justice.

    TV ads are tantamount to buying votes. It is akin to buying justice especially when attorney friends and associates are finding the funds for their favorites to make it to the bench. There ought to be another equitably acceptable system for the people.

    $24 million is a hell of a lot.
    Which makes it even clearer than ever that spending over 80 times as much on just one race (to win the White House) is an absolutely outrageous thing.

    Maybe solving or even just ameliorating one of those problems could help open the door to solving the other one too.
