    Excellent article! Adoptees are the only US citizens denied access to their original birth certificates. Even The Child Welfare League of America supports this important legislation.

    Mixed feelings about this bill. It will set up unequal treatment for older vs newer adoptees and the older adoptees are the ones who really need access, especially for family medical history. Incremental civil rights is tough but not always a bad idea. Before slavery was abolished there was a law that said you cannot have more slaves but you can keep the ones you already have.
