In a recent formal ethics opinion, the American Bar Association found that attorneys can research prospective jurors on the internet, including social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter, and use that information in the jury selection process.

    The obvious solution is for everybody—including lawyers—to shun social media and curb the narcissistic urge to publicize every little detail of lives that nobody else really gives a damn about anyway. And has it occurred to anyone that potential jurors with embarrassing or unflattering Internet rap-sheets, inter alia, can avoid voir-dire (and other) problems simply by being honest?

    Why shouldn‘t lawyers be allowed to do their job?
