I am still in vacation mode. After a week happily spent consuming equal measures of blueberry pancakes, Doris Kearns Goodwin and Rummikub, returning to work has left me with a severe case of the mental bends. And while my brain adjusts to the pain of no longer quiescing in Maine, all I can muster up are a few Random Thoughts™:

What's being said

  • Justice for the victims of gun violence warring with liberty for the rights of gun owners? That’s a crock. What has one thing to do with the other? Justice for victims of any sort most certainly doesn’t lie in actions or legislation affecting people who had nothing to do with the crimes in question.

    Or perhaps Dan Krisch is thinking of a new type of proactive or preemptive American justice, which instead of granting new rights or expanding old ones limits or abolishes existing rights . . .
