ASSOCIATE CITY ATTORNEY

The City of Bridgeport is accepting applications for several open Associate City Attorney positions. Associate City Attorney is a non-competitive classified civil service position.

Requirements: A minimum of three (3) years litigation and jury trial experience is a must for each position. The first position generally entails defending lawsuits in the following substantive areas: 42 USC §1983 actions, wrongful deaths, excessive force claims, police pursuits, wrongful arrest/detention and personal injury actions. The second position requires experience in labor and employment law, as well as public education law. This position generally entails advising management on personnel and education related matters. It entails defending the City of Bridgeport and its Board of Education before administrative agencies such as the CHRO, EEOC, SBMA and SBLR, as well as representation of the City and the Board in state and federal court proceedings. The City reserves the right to reject any and all candidates and to decline to hire. Salary and Benefits: Salary range: $72,962 to $109,613. Starting salary is commensurate with experience and will be determined by the City Attorney and Director of Labor Relations. This position includes competitive benefits and pension plan.
