Letter: Awards Aim Was Miscommunicated

The Connecticut Law Tribune

To The Editor:

In his May 19, 2003, column entitled, "The Friendly Federal Court; CBA Convention's Crassness," Norm Pattis erred in his criticism of the Connecticut Bar Association's intent to present its Distinguished Public Service Award to the University of Connecticut women's head basketball coach, Geno Auriemma. The CBA does confer awards upon lawyers. However, the aforementioned award is intended primarily for non-lawyers and its prior recipients include jazz musician Dave Brubeck, playwright Arthur Miller, baseball great Jackie Robinson and many other notable Connecticut citizens who have made a significant contribution to society.
