A lawyer who allegedly fails to return phone calls and to communicate with his client can violate Rule 1.4 of the Rules of Professional Conduct. A local grievance panel found probable cause that the respondent attorney, Ronald Piombino of Madison, did not communicate adequately, in violation of Rule 1.4(a) and (b) of the Rules of Professional Conduct, because he allegedly did not return phone calls from a widow about a decedent's retirement account. Rule 1.4 provides in pertinent part, "A lawyer shall . . . promptly comply with reasonable requests for information." The respondent attorney already is the subject of a disciplinary matter. The respondent and disciplinary counsel agreed to the respondent's presentment to Superior Court for discipline, to consolidate the disciplinary matters.
